LOADING YARD POLICIES
General Yard Policies
- Proficient requires that newly released drivers load only when a Loading Yard Supervisor is present, and the trainer releases the trainee from training.
- No unauthorized personnel are allowed in the loading areas.
- Vehicles can only be driven for the purpose of loading/unloading.
- No shuttling using vehicles.
- Owner/operators with authorized passengers must ensure that their passenger remains in the truck while loading or unloading. Passengers may not assist in staging or loading vehicles. If this happens, it is grounds for immediate termination.
- Sleeping on loading yards is prohibited.
- No eating, drinking, or smoking is allowed in loading yard or in vehicles.
- Do your part to maintain a safe and clean loading yard. Do not litter!
- Notify yard personnel if there is a fluid leak. See separate section on Fluid Leaks in your driver’s manual if this occurs.
- All sign in sheets must be legible.
- Understand that guards may inspect closed carriers to verify that units are being brought into the loading area.
- All drivers must park within designated parking areas, regardless of how many trucks are on the yard.
Blount Island/Port of Brunswick
- Upon entering gate, hand over both TWIC and JaxPort badge to guard
- Cell phones are prohibited while driving.
- Anywhere on the port
- Including shuttling vehicles to load lines.
- Seat belts required while driving any vehicle.
- Must obey all posted speed limits and stop signs.
- Vehicles shall not be left running while unattended.
- On WWL property (Blount Island)
- Main driveways
- Along fence line
- Between blocks that travel north to south
- Speed limit is 25 MPH & 2-way traffic.
- Secondary driveways
- Go easterly direction.
- Speed limit is 15 MPH.
